My work draws inspiration from post-modern dance, music of many genres, global theater, cinema, sports and most importantly, the imagination.
Over the years I’ve created a somewhat eclectic collection of works, ranging from highly choreographed dances, to autobiographically driven performance works, to pieces that explore energetic connections between the voice and body. In any given process, I watch and listen through lenses that are equally kinetic, visual and aural in an effort to emulate a range of human and natural dynamics, most often gravitating toward that which feels organic and whole. I often begin with images, sounds or movement ideas and work through improvisation. I’m interested in discovering what intuitively feels right to create dynamic situations that tap into what may lie just beneath the surface of our shared experience. I am equally interested in exploring themes that relate both to the here and now and to the universal and timeless. Ultimately, I aim to generate feelings of empathy, contemplation, connection and transformation within every audience member with whom the work is shared.
